                                                                                                            SKAGS Interview 22/02/21

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

We are SKAGS, a rock band from Athens Greece, founded in 2017. We are best described as an Alternative, Electronic, Psychedelic Rock Band. Nevertheless, we add elements in our music from other styles too, such as progressive rock, post rock and funky, some of which are our main influences when writing lyrics, music and recording our songs.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from

Our songs concern a multitude of subjects, mainly social and political, such as discrimination of any kind and the alienation we experience in modern societies. As the music progresses through each track in our record, we portray our take on a variety of social issues we deal with today. We really want to make a truthful connection with every listener, a sort of a non-typical “conversation”.

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?

So far the reviews we are receiving from all around the world are excellent and this gives us so much power to continue writing music. What is promising also, is that there is no song to be considered as the hit or the most favourite, as all the reviews and comments we receive concern multiple and different songs from the album as favourites.

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2020

The covid pandemic has set back all plans for tours and festivals. We have been on some small tours around Greece and it is something that we miss so much. We are really looking forward to getting back on stage again and going abroad.

MM: What can we expect from SKAGS live

Watching SKAGS live is a unique experience. Our music is bound to make your head bang, we want you to sing along and feel the same energy as we want to share with our audience.

MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring

The best part of touring is the show. We love the vibe and energy that a big audience gives out and we want to be connected with them.
There is nothing really bad about touring except perhaps for the exhaustion, but you get compensated when you see people excited with your music.

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why

Christos: Rush in Frankfurt in 2011. Because it was a dream-come-true for me seeing my legend trio perform live for the first and (sadly) last time.

Sotiris: Black Sabbath in Athens 2005. Because it was with the original line up and the live was amazing.

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with

We have many proud moments during our music journey so far, including our first gig, our first music composition, our first single release. But the most overall emotional moment by far until today is the release of our first album “Digital Cage of a Cursed Generation” especially since we received our CD copies. We think that it’s a “once in a lifetime” feeling for every artist and knowing that it’s our small contribution in the music history makes us very proud.

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time

Christos: Dream Theater – Awake, REM – Automatic for the People

Sotiris: Pink Floyd - Division Bell , The Cure - Disintegration

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?

Well, the first time we performed live, was not really a success, as we were a band for only two months at that time and we were very nervous to perform at the best of our capabilities.

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

Christos: My bedroom wall was full of metal bands of the 80s, like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc.

Sotiris: Black Sabbath , Nirvana, HIM

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person

Every period in music had its pioneers. We believe that the big bands from early 70’s till the late 80’s were the founders of what we call Rock and Metal these days.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

The band has many plans for the future and only some of them are:

-A release party for our album

-A live videoclip

-A new photography session

-Recording and releasing our second full album

MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

High and Dry by Radiohead. It really fits with our sound as a band.

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band

Listening to SKAGS is not only a musical experience. Our music is a journey, with places to visit, a way to see things in different ways and share your thoughts.

Our songs have the energy and vibe that can bring out every kind of emotion and captivate your soul. It's music for every mood!

MM: Four words to describe (SKAGS)

Intense, Highly Addictive Music

Final Words for your fans and our readers

We want to thank you all for reading this interview and we are looking forward to hearing your comments about our music.
